fruits we would know false teachers, however loudly they proclaim their orthodoxy (Matt. 7:15–20). Where “gospel” teaching produces a greater concern for miracles than for holiness, a greater desire for wealth than for conformity to Christ, a greater appetite for celebrity than service, the gospel of Christ has been completely lost. A second necessary ingredient of gospel unity is gentleness. Sadly, gentleness has not often been readily associated with an evangelical, Reformed Christian profession.
